This logo has specifically been designed to encapsulate both aspects of music and gardens to fit within the desired theme of the festival. Because the festival name is “Music In The Garden”, the greenery that creates the boarder of the logo has been used to almost represent the garden. This is supported by the flowers at the top. To keep links to it being a music festival, musical notes complete the lower half of the loop, also supporting the link between the garden and the music. For the first main design, a neutral cream/beige colour is used for the logo background to give a clean and complementing look to the colour scheme. This blander colour, paired with the greens and lilacs, draws the viewer to the bold text clearly depicting “Music In The Garden”. These colours were chosen as they are often found in floral scenes, which is why they are also used as the main colour scheme across all the branding. Specifically, the green and beige are gender neutral colours, which help to attract the target audience of all genders. With the desire for a fun looking font, Maiandra GD was chosen. It was also designed in a more dynamic layout by curving the “Music” and “Garden” around “In The”, which also created a flowing effect following a similar shape to the surrounding edge of the logo. After showing the original design to the client, they suggested adding another music note and changing the flower colours to a yellow and purple. This was to make them stand out more and give a stronger contrast to the blander background. Adding another music note also uses up more empty space, along with being designed to not create confusion to what they are. It also implies that there is more music in the festival than if there was to be just one note. They are both clearly depictable as the music notes have a dark grey outline to separate them from each other. This dark grey works best to do this, as it doesn’t heavily contrast the rest of the notes, and fits within the colour scheme unlike if something else bright was used. An improvement that could be done is adding a bit more detail to or improving the shape of the bordering greenery. In general, it works, but some viewers may see the randomised boarder as messy.
